Cry for one dead Syrian toddler. Pay for millions of dead American babies.
That’s the paradigm we’re supposed to support.
Thanks to our foreign policy brilliance (that’s sarcasm, btw) the Middle East is now bleeding millions of migrants that the rest of the world is supposed to welcome with open arms or be branded ‘uncaring’, ‘xenophobic’, ‘unchristian’ or flat out racist.
In typical amnesiac fashion, the press and therefore the people of our country have consigned the first eight years of this century to the memory hole. Didn’t happen. There was no outrageous attack on American soil, thousands of innocent people didn’t die in a single morning, no alien ideology was behind any such attack, we didn’t send our troops around the world to contain it and Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Syria and the surrounding nations were not under our control before Obama, the One, took office and pulled the plug…creating the exact same result as his EPA, when they ‘fixed’ that Colorado mine and destroyed the Animus river and all the communities downstream.
As Louis L’Amour wrote, it’s amazing the amount of destruction one man can cause when he puts his mind to it.
Now, thanks completely and I mean 100% to the stupidity, arrogance, ignorance and perhaps malice of our current administration, the Middle East is exploding as we watch, Christians are being slaughtered or fleeing the area and using that flood as cover, radical, ascendant Islam is invading Europe in a wave that makes the ’04 Sri Lankan tsunami look like gentle surf and the invasion of Troy look like child’s play.
Ten years ago this week, a Dutch newspaper published several cartoons of Muhammed. In the west, this was considered an innocuous act, hardly worth noticing. Cartoons, for Heaven’s sake!
To Islam, it was a clarion call .
Death threats, attacks, stabbings, beheadings, bombings and the silencing of free speech have followed.
What has the West done to stand up for its values?
(Those values, in case you don’t know, were supposed to be Life, Liberty, the Pursuit of Happiness, Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Religion, Freedom of Association…to name a few, none of which are terribly [and by ‘terribly’, I mean ‘at all’] valuable in Islam.)
Nothing.
Even as we went to war, we denied who we were fighting and what we were fighting for. We’ve acquiesced to the utter humiliation that is current air travel without ever admitting who the enemy is or what the security personnel are looking for.
Our smug belief in cultural superiority is actually preventing us from protecting our culture from total annihilation.
Sometimes I feel like the only one left in America who remembers anything.
I remember the Cold War. I remember lofty Leftists pooh-poohing the Right’s distrust of communism and the USSR, asking “Do you think the Russian’s love their children any less than we do?”
Now we’re facing an enemy who boards a plane with their infant specifically to smuggle explosives in their own babies’ bottle. That’s why we can no longer carry liquids and gels onboard when we fly. Because Jihadists don’t love their children the way we love ours.
They may love them just as much but their religion demands and applauds human sacrifice.
Sometimes the human to be sacrificed is themselves, sometimes their children…most often it’s you and me.
The Left respects Islam for this. The Left also believes in human sacrifice. Eugenics was all about human sacrifice; it’s easy to create a perfect society by killing off the imperfect. “Pro-choice” is nothing more than sacrificing one life for the convenience of others. Euthanasia is nothing but pruning the branches of society of useless twigs to conserve resources for the fit and healthy. So what if Planned Parenthood profits from the production (they encourage irresponsible sex), destruction and sale of human beings? We’ll turn a blind eye as long as we can keep screwing around to our hearts’ content. Love wins!
The Right is supposed to stand against human sacrifice but it’s getting harder every day. Even the Pope’s words are being used to encourage the West to take in as many ‘refugees’ as possible, or risk being thought of as uncharitable and self-centered.
Side note: why is it more important for functioning societies to take in refugees from failed states than for failed states to be reformed and made successful? I ask this of Pope Frank and his apparent focus on US immigration policy rather than the failed societies of Central and South America. I recently saw a piece on the news of some illegal immigrant who wants to dedicate his life to opening our borders instead of addressing what’s wrong with the nation he abandoned. Just as the Syrians pouring into Europe, hoping for Germany are going to find; wherever you go; there you are.
I reject the accusation of being uncharitable but I’ll cop to some self-interest.
Self-preservation is an inherently self-centered endeavor. I admit it’s self-serving to wish to preserve my own culture, society, life and religion but in my own defense, I want to be able to hand these things on to my grandkids, so even in this instance, I’m not acting solely out of self-interest.
For 264 years, American soldiers have fought for their own liberty but they’ve died for the liberty of others. A subtle but significant nuance.
I’ve never bought into the idea of cultural relativism. I believe Western culture is superior to Islam in nearly every way. I believe the two are incompatible and when they occupy the same space, whoever is willing to defend their culture more robustly is going to win. I see nothing to convince me that the West is willing, much less able to defend itself against the onslaught of Islamism that will inherently come with a tide of Muslim immigrants.
I don’t believe multiculturalism works.
Cultures are like flavors; some overwhelm others. There’s a reason we don’t dump tablespoons of caraway on brownies.
If you add certain ingredients to cucumbers, you make pickles.
Here’s the rub; once you’ve turned them into pickles, they’ll never be cucumbers again.
So goes Western civilization if we don’t protect our borders; the same way every lost civilization has gone since the dawn of mankind.
