Zack's birthday was this weekend, too. I can't believe he's 30! Seems only yesterday that I waddled into the hospital in Havre, MT, to have him induced two weeks late. With your first baby, you can't wait for them to be born but Zack was our third so we were willing to let him take his time but two weeks was as far as I was willing to wait. As one might expect, he was a very laid back, easy going baby. No hurry, no worries. And now he's a fabulous 30 year old man. Time flies.
He wanted cajun curry chicken and ranger cookies for dinner. Cake is so over.
Saturday morning, Josie, Katie, BoopityBoop, Zack and I went to the Arboretum. It was a gorgeous, sunny day! I don't like to go there on the weekend because it's so crowded but we got out there nice and early so it was not a problem. We let the twins run around in the gardens. They liked everything, of course. We saw waterfalls, fountains, flowers, trees, fish, a hummingbird and a trillion butterflies. The traffic on the three mile drive was already getting heavy so we went down to the bog walk and it was lovely. The girls were very excited, picking up acorns like their own yard isn't full of them!
We were all back home by 1. Zack and his sisters walked up to a pizza place up the street and the twins and I stayed home, had lunch, played games and watched The Greatest Showman. Coach came home and joined us, playing hide and seek. Jay and I have curtains around our bed (Downton Abbey, anyone?) and at one point, Boopity wrapped herself up in the curtain so that all that showed was her feet. Of course, she wrapped herself up so tight that it looked like a fabric tornado that just swallowed a toddler. And she was giggling. Best hiding place, Ever!
Later in the afternoon, Ty came by, with Babalouie and Kitten. The kids all played together for awhile, then Katie had to take the twins home because they had another party to go to. weekends! Ty, Zack and Babalouie went off together to shop for shoes. Kitten and Coach watched football together. They're both yuuuuge fans.
I got some work done while everyone was otherwise occupied. Later, sporting new shoes, the men watched football while Babalouie, Kitten and I watched The Greatest Showman. All in all, a very fun day.
As usual, after spending so much time with the grandkids, Jay and I were wiped out. We slept for 10 hours and had to go the later mass at Basilica. Afterwards, we went over to Hoyt's for brunch. I had French toast. Their French toast is thick, crispy, covered in pecans and three kinds of berries; delicious! it was a good start to a gray, rainy day. It felt like Autumn, even though it still looks like late summer. Some of the trees have begun to change but we're at least a week behind where we usually are at this point for color. Mostly, it still looks like summer out there. If it weren't for the sun rising and setting far to the south, I couldn't tell it was late September from my front window.
Back at home, I worked all afternoon on an order for a two panel Christmas tree skirt. It's huge and I spent hours just figuring out how to lay it on the canvas so it will work without being more expensive than it has to be. I did get around to the drawing but hadn't finished it before the aroma of the chicken wings Jay put in for the Viking's game drew me out of my office and downstairs. They tasted as good as they smelled!
