I’ve been very busy trying to get canvases done for the sale that begins on Thursday, so I haven’t had time to think about where to put all the new furniture I picked up on Saturday. I did take an hour or so to hang the new art I got. One each in my office, the porch, the basement and the living room. I made sure the piece on the porch had museum glass (UV protective) so it won’t fade in the sunshine. That reminds me, I have several watercolors that I need to get UV glass cut for.
I was on fire work wise this week. Despite taking Saturday off, I got nearly two weeks’ worth of canvases painted. It always helps that the designs I was doing were fun. Very little new designing, just picking out the best of what I already have and copying them. It’s the drawing that takes the most time. Once I actually get to the painting, I'm pretty fast. And I’ve learned to pace myself; paint for two hours, go do something else for an hour, then back to the drawing board.
Got to keep your ax sharp.
Today, after dropping everything off at the shop, I finally turned my attention to the new stuff. The porch was easy; two IKEA chairs went back down into the basement and one loveseat and book case installed in their place. They look perfect.
The living room was a bit trickier. In the end, I put the leather and wood chair in the TV room. Now Jay has his brown recliner and I have my gorgeous work-of-art-chair. It looks just as wonderful next to the fireplace as it did next to the picture window.
I’ve set up my library corner. I finally have the beautiful, comfy reading chair next to the book case that I’ve always wanted. I’ve got a brass reading lamp next to it and a footstool. Now, if I ever get a minute to sit and read my book, I’m set.
The radio table that used to be in that corner has been moved to the front end of the room, with the couch and chairs. It’s the ‘living room’ part of what is now a living/dining/reading room. Just for fun, Josie helped me re arrange the couch and chairs. The needlepoint chair I finished a couple of years ago is now by the picture window. It looks lovely.
Our bedroom door is flanked by two gorgeous smoking cupboards.
I had to move a wicker rocker out of the living room and onto the porch and a large wicker trunk that I was using as an end table has gone down to the guest room to hold extra blankets.
For the moment, I like it.
I have to rehang all the art on the wall above the couch. It was placed properly when the chairs were under it but now that the couch is there, everything is too low.
Oh, I also had to move a couple of charcoal drawings around. I think I’ll hang one in the little bedroom.
God, I love doing this stuff.
