Jay’s nephew Mike (Mikayla’s Dad) told us he’d get us close to the bench in return for which, he expected us to be properly outfitted in Beaver Orange. We went to the arena yesterday but all the OSU hats were sold out and the only T-shirts still available were too small. So we spent a large part of today looking for suitable attire. I found a T-shirt at the Hershey store that was the right color of orange and Jay actually went and had a hat made especially for the occasion.
Boy, did she live up to our expectations.
It was an absolute joy to watch her on the court. She’s smart, generous, ruthless and as cold blooded a player as I’ve ever seen. The game was a bare knuckle, knock down drag out fight which the Beavers eventually lost but our #0 was as cool as a KGB assassin right down to the wire, dropping in a 3 to tie things up with 4.9 seconds left on the clock.
After a final 5 seconds that felt like whiplash, the Beavers were vanquished but they went down fighting to the last.
Mik had 23 pts, 11 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 fouls. That’s what I call leaving it all on the floor.
Losing sucks. Losing after you play like that sucks big time.
But it’s madness, baby; anything can happen.
