Boop’s helmet arrived on Monday. As the picture I posted the other day indicated, she’s not thrilled with it. Katie assures me that she doesn’t really hate it as much as that shot would suggest.
But its very possible she just doesn’t like the way it looks. I mean, Boop is a little fashionista; there’s no way she’s happy about topping off her killer outfits with a blob of a white helmet.
So we fixed it.
Babies who need a helmet to properly reshape their skulls get a few days to ease into wearing them. We had those few days to paint the helmet before Boop has to wear it full time. So, I went up to Katie’s for dinner and I brought my stuff.
I got up to the house before Katie got home from work. The nanny was perfectly happy to get off work a half hour early but Boop was very sad to see her go. I was glad to see how much Boop likes her.
I just read one of those internet stories with the lurid headline; “They didn’t know their nanny was a monster…” You know the one: couple hires a nanny who seems normal but within weeks, their toddler screams and cries every time someone walks into her bedroom and she freaks out every single day when the nanny arrives. Like many a tv-amateur-sleuth, they put a nanny cam in place to catch the nanny in the act of terrorizing their innocent baby. Naturally, all I could think was INSTEAD OF FIRING THE NANNY FOR BEING A BAD FIT THE MOMENT YOUR BABY STARTED SHOWING SIGNS OF EMOTIONAL TRAUMA YOU USED HER AS BAIT????
Can you tell I’m not on their side?
Grrrr. I can only hope that’s some fake internet news.
So yes, I’m happy to see that Boopity Boop are sad to see their nanny leave. The sadness passed quickly and by the time Adam came in, I had both babies laughing with me. Adam and a buddy went fishing and Katie and I fed the girls out on the deck. It was a gorgeous evening. They ate all their oatmeal, then polished off their bottles.
Later on, I painted Boop’s helmet while we watched Moana.
We went with a pretty design that went well with her wardrobe.
As Coco Chanel said “Fashion says ‘me too’. Style says ‘only me’.”
That holds special meaning for identical twins.
