We finally got to have the burgers we’d been craving. We headed up to The Local Bar and Grill on Friday. The place was just hopping! The burgers were everything we’d hoped: huge, juicy, tasty as heck and covered with shoestring fries!
When we’d had enough of roughing it, we packed up and came home. We had a lot of fun just hanging out with no distractions. We’ve always had fun hanging out together. Tomorrow, we celebrate out 37thwedding anniversary and I can honestly say that while we’ve had a few knock down, drag out fights over the years, we’ve never been bored in each other’s company.
I love the peace and quiet and the beauty of being up in the woods but I get tired of not being able to take a shower pretty quick. I tried: the water ran fine but it never got warmer than icy cold. No thanks. We made the drive home covered in several day’s worth of bug spray and sunscreen. Driving south on a summer Saturday was easy; all the traffic was heading north.
In putting everything away, Jay hauled the canoes up onto shore. He pulled something in his back while doing it. He felt it but thought nothing of it. We packed the car up and hit the road. Half way home, his back began to ache. We wrapped up some ice out of the cooler and placed it against his back.
We got home in the late afternoon, and I couldn’t wait to get in the shower. We both scrubbed ourselves clean than collapsed into bed. A successful vacation always ends in exhaustion, doesn’t it?
Poor Jay woke up with a back so stiff and sore he could hardly move.
Aarrgh.
Note to self: Always buy the big case of water and get help hauling in the canoes.
