So yesterday, Mitt Romney gave a big old speech in which he basically told the Republican base to quit acting like a bunch of idiots or he was taking his ball and going home.
A few months back, when the conventional wisdom was that Trump was a novelty candidate who would soon lose his shine, the GOP made a big point of demanding that Trump swear to support whomever the eventual candidate turned out to be. The party was clearly worried that the Donald would give up the charade of being a Republican and run as an Independent, splitting the vote, resulting in a Democrat win.
Now that months have passed and rather than going down in flames, Trump has actually won more primaries and garnered more delegates than anyone else in the field, the party establishment is terrified.
Trump swore to support the eventual candidate but now that it looks like it may actually be him, the GOP is pulling out the (perceived) big guns to say they won’t do what they made Trump swear to do.
Hey, Mitt: did it ever occur to you that this is exactly the rank hypocrisy which has been driving your base to distraction for decades now? It’s bad enough that we have to put up with it from Democrats. Their supporters may accept being lied to, abused, taken for granted and used for the sake of power but yours don’t.
We’re mad as Hell and we won’t take it anymore.
That’s really all the Trump support is about.
Have you ever paused to consider that if even ONCE during the last eight years, the GOP and the officials we elected had stood firm and done the job they’d campaigned on doing, the job we elected them to do, we never would have come to such a pass?
Ted Cruz is the only member of the Legislative branch who had the balls to stand up, stand firm and stand against the Obama Administration policies your base fervently wishes to oppose and what did he get for his courage? Denigration from his own party. A reputation as a nutball and a loose cannon. A creep who’s not a team player. The GOP should have rallied behind him when he railed against Obamacare. The RNC should have supported his candidacy from the beginning. If you hadn’t tried to choke us with another useless, spineless establishment candidate, Trump would still be the host of Celebrity Apprentice.
So now, the candidate who couldn’t beat Obama when 70% of the nation wanted the yoke of Obamacare lifted off their necks has said if the nominee chosen by the majority of his party turns out to be Trump, he, Mitt Romney, can’t ‘in good conscience’ vote for him.
Apparently Mr. Romney’s conscience is fine with letting the Democrats hold the White House. If that happens, then nationalized medicine will be cemented into US law for generations. The southern border will be nothing but a distant memory. So, too will religious freedom, freedom of speech, freedom of association and whatever else gets in the way of the leftist agenda. Today’s college graduates, if they can find jobs at all, will be faced with national deficits north of $30,000,000,000,000.00 by the time they reach retirement age. With the taxes necessary to service such debt, will they ever be able to consider retirement?
If the Democrats hold the White House, do you really imagine the press, the people or the loyal opposition party will stop them?
Mitt Romney’s conscience is apparently fine with the idea of Supreme Court Justice William Jefferson Clinton, serial sexual predator, once disbarred attorney and pathological liar.
Mitt Romney may be fine with all of that but I’m not.
Former Governor Romney: You’re fired.
