I blame Mark Zuckerberg and Kevin Spacey, just because. And Katy Perry for the sake of gender equity. Why not?
that photo of trees was the view outside my front window on November 5th. As you can see, the trees are a dull green. Usually, they would have turned all kinds of colors in October and be bare limbed by Halloween but this year...not.
The photo of Xena and Babalouie was supposed to come after this paragraph:
We have two maples in our front yard. Once was bare branched two weeks ago while the other is always the last on the block to change. Here we are, on Veteran’s Day and its finally raining dried, dull green leaves all over the still green lawn.
I look forward to the colors of Autumn and this year, I’ve been painting outside so I have noticed and been keenly disappointed by the performance of our foliage.
Get it together trees! You’d best up your game in 2018 or we’ll find some trees who can get the job done!
That oughta scare ‘em.
Last Sunday night, Jay and I went out to Ty’s place for dinner and I stayed over. Ty and Megan both had to work on Monday but for some reason, the kids didn’t have school so they needed some help. It’s a lot easier for me to sleep over than to get down to their place by 7:30.
It’s just so much easier to sleep over than to try to wake up early enough to make it work. I got to hang around in my jammies, drinking coffee and playing with Babalouie until Xena woke up. We all had breakfast together and it was a stress free morning.
After everyone was dressed, we hopped in the car and went to the Arboretum. It had clouded up and was cold but not windy. We bundled up and were prepared for some outside time. We got there just in time for lunch. All the summer decorations were down, including the art show that had hung for the last few months. There were nearly no other visitors around and crews were busy hanging Christmas lights everywhere. We went up to the cafeteria and didn’t have to stand in line at all. I thought we could split a sandwich but the kids didn’t like the looks of any of them. They don’t like salad on their sandwiches. So Xena chose a fruit cup and Babalouie a yogurt cup and I had the chicken salad wrap all to myself. We also got some chips but we forgot the eat them.
After lunch, we went outside and I chased the kids around the upper gardens. There was no one around to scold them for climbing on rocks but I did suggest that falling in the stream and getting soaked would be less fun on a 26 degree day than it would have been last summer when it was hot out. The fountains were all turned off and the coy ponds were both emptied, answering that age old question of whether giant gold fish hunker down beneath the ice for the winter. Not at the Arboretum, they don’t!
I tried to get back into that post here on my dashboard but it wouldn't let me.
I guess that's the price I have to pay for going with the cheap-ass blog but I refuse to upgrade, so this is what we get.
