Just like fishing or golf, a bad day of painting is still a darned good day.
The shop is having a sale at the end of the month so my list of orders is a mile long. I love it: mostly Christmas ornaments and stockings. I need to get as much done as possible for the sale. The good news is that I can paint these things quickly. All I need to do is pace myself and I can have a banner week.
Wednesday, we went up and had dinner with Katie and BoopityBoop. She found a swing set on Craig’s list and hired a young man to transfer it from its previous home to her gigantic back yard. The girls are in love with it already. Katie outfitted it with two toddler swings. We discussed all kinds of plans for fixing the whole thing up for the girls while Jay had both of them in their pink convertibles, running all over the yard.
Katie made us tacos for dinner and BoopityBoop put on the best floor show in town. They were showing off their muggery but neither could really pull off ‘angry face’ or ‘sad face’ because they couldn’t stop smiling.
We didn’t stay late. We helped Katie get the girls all washed up and into bed. We made it home just as darkness fell.
I already posted about Gus winning silver at the State Track meet last weekend. Well, tonight, my brother sent a short video of Vince Hubbell, throwing the final strike that put the St. Thomas Academy baseball team into the State Championship game! Looks like we’ll be making a trip to Target Field next weekend!
This morning, we met at a park only three miles from my house to paint. It was a perfect late Spring morning: warm, clear and blue. I had two canvas panels with me and managed to paint two different views. So far, I like them both.
I got home in time for lunch, then spent the afternoon filling orders.
A sunshower came through in late afternoon, soaking our lawn and passing away, leaving nothing behind but humidity.
Zack came over to do a load of laundry and help his Dad move some furniture.
Then Jay grilled up a steak and some shrimp for our dinner.
I didn’t get a walk in and I didn’t see any of my grandkids but it was about as close to a perfect day as one can ever hope for.
