I can’t believe how fast this summer zipped by but it’s time to take Josie back to school.
Summer? Who am I kidding, I can’t believe it’s time for my baby to start her senior year of college.
College.
Poor Josie. She’ll be a middle aged grandma before I’m reconciled to the fact that she’s already graduated from high school. It’s tough to be the youngest. She’s on schedule to graduate in four years with a double science major but her mom can’t believe she’s old enough to drive.
Okay, I’m writing this while watching Smash, which was cancelled after a season or two. One character just met her ex in a clandestine location to tell him that they really can’t start up again but he didn’t believe her. It probably didn’t help that she showed up wearing her pajamas.
And no underwear.
I love this show.
Back on subject:
Jay started classes this week, as well. I hate this trend of starting school before Labor Day. Before the Fair even starts! Its un-American. Because he started school, he couldn’t drive Josie back to school with me. It’s not a hard or long drive. In fact, it’s easy and beautiful. The problem is that once we get there and unload her stuff, then I have to drive back alone and that’s long and boring. Last year we did it together and had a really good time on the drive home.
Then Katie said that if we went on Sunday instead of Monday, she’d come, so that’s what we did.
Yeah, Jay could have come on Sunday as well but the idea of a girl’s road trip was too good to pass up.
Josie and I got the van packed to the gills before Katie arrived at the house. We didn’t try to hit the road early because Josie knew we couldn’t move into her place until mid afternoon. The drive was super easy; there’s never much traffic on a Sunday.
The new apartment is awesome! Far and away the best place she’s lived in. Her first two apartments weren’t bad, they were cute but mostly functional. This one is an older building with hardwood floors, beautiful woodwork and high ceilings. It’s great!
After we finished moving her in, which went surprisingly well considering one of her helpers is a one armed old lady and the other is pregnant with twins, we all mosied over to the lake for lunch. It was sunny but cool and gorgeous.
Katie and I headed home around five. We made good time and even though we had to stop so Katie could eat for three, we still got home early enough for me to watch a few episodes of iZombie. All in all, a wonderful way to spend a Sunday with my grown up girls.
